no clue. eosd's date turned up a couple mentions of it in search, but a lot of the others don't seem to have been even ever said on the internet alongside words like "touhou" (or 東方) or "gensokyo" (or 幻想教). i checked some of the older versions of the wiki page, but it seems like a couple details for sources got removed even though they're valid? i still can't find any corroboration for most of it, though.
you're probably fine at finding stuff, it's just a tough search. i did find some more cool things, though. never figured out where to read the omake.txt translations were until now

I'll look out for any specific dates noted in the official media, then. maybe a few things were said in certain routes or casually mentioned in one of the manga?
also I tried IN on hard a few more times and kept dying at marisa, so I decided to try easy because I heard there was some sort of spell card practice mode after the game is completed on any difficulty. I got up to stage 6 without any continues and then when I got to eirin I ended up using enough continues to get a game over lol. I tried looking for some general gameplay tips, because basically all I know about is deathbombs, shotgunning, streaming and practicing certain spell cards or stages, though I wasn't exactly sure where to look. do ya got any tips? I definitely need to play more, though if there are any strategies I should learn to git gud then knowing them might help me finally beat the game on not easy mode

just kidding, that's way too old of a joke.
i think the best way to get dodging is to try a bunch of different patterns, same kind of thing as rhythm games. i know that i tried and failed every single windows game that was out at the time before i 1cc'd any of them. the games where you can take spellcards one at a time are nice, too. (shoot the bullet, impossible spell card, lolk)
now this does kind of require heavy use of moriya shrine, not exactly the coolest thing but games are expensive and zun doesn't seem to be following the time-honoured tradition of steam summer sales. when i can get seven copies of portal 2 for less than one copy of touhou 16 it isn't exactly incentivizing
i do have some bad news though: i'm pretty sure that when you unlock spells in spell practice it's only for difficulties that you've already seen the spell on or lower. imperishable night does have this cool thing though where there are special spells only in practice mode at the very bottom, i forgot how to unlock them all but they're basically a super-powerful attack for everyone in the game, playable characters included.
you could always download a scorefile to have access to everything in practice, but it's up to you if you think that's a good tradeoff for not having the records of your own progression. as for specific tips, i don't know. it's another rhythm game similarity, but i guess trying to look everywhere at once, or at least above your player instead of on them, is good. comfort with switching between focused and unfocused is useful, too, though i'm not super good myself so my tips aren't too informed

i'll keep an eye out for any specific dates, too. maybe there's even some that could be found that aren't on the wiki yet. at the least, it's a good reason to go through what's there of lotus eaters and detective satori again because they are pretty cool so far

I beat IN easy on my second try at least so I have evolved from babby form lol
also yeah the spell practice only unlocked stuff that I already beat so I guess I can do those just for practice
I think last word is the section with the special spells? though some of those say I have to beat the game using four characters so I don't know if I'll ever be able to do that without a scorefile because marisa goes at light speed
probably I'll just have to use practice mode a lot so that I can survive marisa without using 10 bombs

i'm a marisa main but even i have to admit that it's a losing pick in imperishable night. border team is just kinda better in every way, but remilia and yuyuko's shots aren't bad either.
i didn't know scarletflameflandre was back, but that's pretty cool. touhou music isn't in any short supply, but you can't get better than the classics.

yeah i dunno what's up with the systems on this forum. there's levels, cash, and i think i saw something about achievements or badges? no idea how to even use the cash though.

well, the first time I got to eirin and then died
and then the second time I got to stage 6 and I didn't use any continues stage 1-5 until the eirin fight when I ended up using like two
and I played a third time and I got to kaguya without any continues but then for some reason when I lost all my lives I wasn't able to use any continues?
from what I heard I need to beat eirin before being able to fight kaguya so I think by getting a game over that one time I'll have to do it all over again
probably I'll just keep doing stage 6 practice mode so I don't end up getting through five stages without any issues and then losing eleven lives lol

also I think I saw some thread down there about how the money works, except I think it needs a mod to confirm things you purchase? so right now it's basically just to show off how rich you are
right now I could buy 34 copies of portal 2 with my post moneys lol

ah right, i forgot exactly how it went. i think if you get to kaguya it just assumes you're going for a 1cc and drops you off if you lose. practice mode is a pretty good idea to counter that.

2011 was a good time for touhou (at least, so i hear. i wasn't around back then), but things seem to be on the rise again with stuff like luna nights becoming super popular all around the world.

unrelated but: apparently, zun recently said on stream that he was interested in/already designing pc98 remakes. it would probably be largely handled by tasofro or some other not-only-zun group, but that would be super rad. mima is cool and all, but what i really want to see is shinki and gengetsu blasting off some proper spellcards. being able to play them in windows engines instead of 30fps no deathbomb no point of collection would be nice too.
you guys interested in that, or would you rather the new releases stick to the future?

I'm always a fan of remakes, so this is good news
I don't know pretty much anything about pc98 because I tried playing lotus land story and I'm not sure if it was an issue with the emulator or what, but it lagged horribly
I got to stage 4 and died at marisa (as usual) because the game would stutter frequently and at one point it froze for like 5 seconds and then I was completely dead
I would definitely like to see the games remade too because the bullets kinda blended into the background sometimes so gameplay improvements as well as compatibility will make it a lot easier to play them
also would this mean old tracks would be made with the new kinda style or instruments or whatever? there's some good stuff in there

pc98 emulators can just decide to be weird sometimes. i use t98-next, which does pretty well for me but isn't so kind if i've got extra stuff like browsers or discord open. getting to stage 4 with random lag is already pretty impressive, you could probably finish the run if it was working properly. sometimes lag can be helpful though, i got a pc98 emulator on my 3ds and tried gengetsu, no way i would have had a chance back then if it wasn't running at only like 70% speed. a shame that it can run me and my 20 units getting destroyed in a 3d fire emblem game at a solid 30 fps but not marisa with a 16 id colour palette from the 90s
if he remade the music that would be pretty rad. if nothing else, that would be a 2020 official bad apple. pc98 has a lot of other good ones too, though. sariel's "now, until the moment you die" is probably my favorite track out of them

I played and got to maybe halfway though pajama yuuka fight before dying so eh better than with the lag at least lol
a remade alice theme would be real nice, I like it more than her new theme especially when it does the thing
