if anyone wants to join, you can. you can maybe talk about something interesting. or make a new thread or reply to things old to make them updated. i know these forums are dead as hell but it just seems weird to me to see guests frequently come here and not join to make any posts of their own or anything. but then it probably makes sense because these forums are well, dead. this is also probably a pointless thread to make but since no one comes here i don't think it matters.

yeah I just found out about the existence of this place very recently literally posting anything feels like necroposting the entire forum lol I dunno if you or anyone else stuck around but I may as well give it a shot too I'm basically a secondary because I listen to touhou music and read doujins but I could never beat EoSD so I didn't see the story of the games yet I have no idea how this forum stuff works but it's quite sad seeing "Last Post: 2014" on half the stuff in here If someone sees this then you better respond alright it'll maybe be worth it

woah hey there yeah every single image has been tainted with photobucket but eh it's pretty funny reminds me of those japanese censorship lines they put over the eyes I tried playing EoSD on hard mode first because I always play whatever games on the second hardest difficulty and then I get to meiling and die because I never get used to bombing I've been on and off with touhou for the past four or five years so I only ever played EoSD for a week straight and then not again for like 6 months one day when I close the 200 tabs I have open I'll give it another shot man though this was a pretty lucky situation I 'll probably be looking through this place a lot because it's not been updated in so long that half of the posts in the last two years are pain pill spam LOL so it's like visiting a ghost town nice to meet you and damn am I glad that someone came here so soon

yeah, it's all about bombing. if you want to, try out imperishable night or lolk, since they've got a lot better modes for just getting through and chilling (extended deathbomb, save points, a bit cooler hitboxes) complete chance that i found this place at the same time, i was doing a deep search of some specific info that i can't get a lead on and it led me here speaking of, i doubt you've got anything, but this is what i was checking out: english and japanese touhou wikis have a chronology of gensokyo, which is pretty thorough. so thorough, in fact, that up until about 2010, almost every notable event, from specific chapters of the manga to offscreen occurrences, down to the literal day. eosd, for example, happened on (not released on) august 12th, 2003. while it would be possible to calculate dates based off of moon cycles, the moon isn't shown nearly enough for that to be possible for everything. it kind of seems like a jape and someone just put it in randomly, but the fact that its on both english and japanese wikis, and so detailed, makes it seem like it isn't. i can't find a source for any of it. so yeah, that's the touhou mystery i've been looking at. here's the page, if you want to see it for yourself: en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Gensokyo_Timelinesome of these are even dated with the gensokyo calendar. nice to meetcha too, i'll be checking around this place as well since internet anthropology is always fun and the .01% chance that a mod notices theres activity would be neat wait uh i cant end the post yet going to plug my touhou jam game since the voting period is still up and im greedy itch.io/jam/touhou-pride-jam-2/rate/677037that's all folks, seeya around

yeah, I'll probably just try out imperishable night then I'll be able to team up with yukari lol I'm not too familiar with the gensokyo timeline but I did remember hearing something about some guy who found potential dates for when maribel and renko were around web.archive.org/web/20160227191547/http://blog.livedoor.jp:80/tohomemory/archives/46903909.htmlwhen I was looking for this I saw on the wiki that the secret sealing club was around in 2015 but I couldn't find where that was stated I didn't really find much of anything but I did notice that whenever I clicked on bunbunmaru newspaper links that many of the exact dates in the timeline were written as estimates, and maybe something about seasons could be used? ah, I'm clueless here. sorry for not being much help, though this is the kind of thing I enjoy looking into so I'll keep going at it anyway I tried game but I kept dying on stage 2 so I will give it another shot after I recover from smooth brain also readme says a short rhythm game soon? I'm not good at them but I always spend a lot of time on rhythm games (75 hours on persona 4 dancing all night in a month a few years ago, the best worst use of my time) so I'll be looking forward to that one well just now I found this other thing, one of those ZUN CDs has month, day, and time along with an image of the moon which is the evidence for the stuff in that last post blog.livedoor.jp/retrospectivekyoto/archives/48509898.html

woah, that's pretty neat. solid info about the hifuu duo is pretty hard to come by, so even a time range is nice. thanks for helping out with my dumb lil quest game is pretty tough, good luck with it. i didn't try hard mode until i could 1cc all the windows games on normal (touhou 2 hates me), so starting out on it sounds difficult also thanks for checking out game, the rhythm thing i've got coming up is kinda a stepmania clone with a story and some funky gimmicks, hopefully releasing in the next month or so? code is tough and i'm not super good at it yet
it's pretty late for me, so i'm gonna jet for today. i'll check back tomorrow tho, and thanks for the convo so far. not every day you can just hang out in a four year inactive forum

well I'm still gonna have a decent amount of stuff to do but if you're up to it I can have some slow-as-molasses type conversation I'm not really great at knowing what to talk about lol so, what's your favorite parts about touhou or the fanbase? I think it's kinda perfect because it's still got activity nowadays but it also has like 20 years of history and I can still go watch niconicos or read discussions from like a decade ago so it's one of the best things to be able to witness the past with and also get to see more neat stuff there's like 300 page discussions about stuff that is interesting but hard to get through and I don't think I ever will run out of those lol also I finally finished game last part where it turned to danmaku was pretty good lol I tried imperishable night once as well and died at marisa with 27 bombs I will probably give it a shot again soon

slow conversation good with me picking a favorite part is difficult, but one thing i can't ignore is that touhou has super active people, and lots of them. i can count the fangames that i've downloaded alone in dozens of gigabytes and check manga sites or steam every week for a couple new doujins or games while my danganronpa pals haven't seen something that wasn't made in rpgmaker in years. some of it isn't the greatest and there's way too many nsfw doujins for my liking but we also have things like luna nights and fantastic danmaku festival just hanging out on steam. crazy. that's the fan-stuff though. for real, i would have to pick just gensokyo. it's got all kinds of people, mini-societies, and while it can contain a massive amount of strife, it's just about invincible as soon as people like yukari get involved. it is hard to pick a favorite, though. maybe yukari herself is the coolest. it's trying to research something about her that usually leads me to funky places on the internet like here. (the damn hakurei barrier uses too much of realistic physics so now i have acquired physics information on what a "cobordism" is) you are right about the history thing though, and constant activity. tasofro has kinda been snoozing on 17.5 since october but the like three manga that are going on right now are cool, and fan-stuff doesn't let up even with everybody stuck at home.
congrats for finishing game, by the way. planning on checking out the extra stages? mokou isn't so bad, but flandre gives me massive trouble, almost as much as koishi. if you want to see some more story in the games but danmaku is holding ya back the fighting games are pretty neat (not a fan of 7.5 or 13.5 but the others? super rad) either way, good luck. touhou may not be boshy-level but it sure isn't known for being easy
i kinda went a bit overboard and made the post big, apologies. ending abruptly with a question: how didja learn about touhou? i always kinda knew it was some bullet hell thing but it took seeing some good ol' iosys while playing osu for me to actually investigate. cirno's perfect math class, classic.

oh yeah, there's reisaitai and all that, right? I've seen a decent amount of doujins and a couple of fangames like touhou rhythm carnival. Lots of good stuff out there. there's a lot to know about gensokyo, so I also like it quite a bit. characters in the doujins always seem familiar with each other, but then I found out that canonically, characters usually only know others in the general area and that there are all those little societies of tengu and kappa and such. it's really cool, and there's even maps out there and all that. I gotta play the games so that I know what all those places are though. also I looked up cobordism and I couldn't understand any of it. the wikipedia page said something about manifolds so I asked my friend who's in calculus and he said he has no idea either lol. I saw people talking about yukari's abilities and a few of those power debates before, but I guess I'll need to take some math classes before I can pick up on those discussions lol. I finished Fantasytaker but not imperishable night, sorry for the confusion. I wish I could get good that fast lol. I saw some gameplay of extra bosses and they look fun, so I'll give them a shot once I'm at that level. I learned about touhou basically by seeing the videos of some guy playing night of nights with random objects, and another guy who played it on a phone. and after that, I saw the usual mcroll and iosys videos. youtube recommended me one of those mcdonalds donatic mode EoSD videos and after I saw that I really wanted to try it, and now here I am lol. I probably need to play more than a few times a week to ever be able to face donald

yeah, it's hard for me to get any of the physics stuff either. i just like figuring out the details of abilities. also oops, thought ya meant one of the official games. the danmaku part seemed to be pretty polarizing to the other jammers so i'm glad you liked it i've seen those night of nights skits, they're crazy. i worry as to what would happen if some of those niconico users who can do one really niche thing really, really well used their powers for evil. ronald mcdonald is a classic touhou character up there with the greats like reimu and asriel one day i hope to as well be able to take a single audio clip and stretch it into a five minute touhou remix

lol probably those guys who can turn a ten second banana advertisement into night of nights can also beat lunatic LoLK blindfolded and those ronald mcdonald ones are crazy lol they're definitely my favorite also did you find anything out about the gensokyo timeline because I still haven't found much of anything I tried seeing if the events in the very beginning were related to real life mythology but I wasn't great at finding anything
