lol the photobucket stuff is showing up again I future-proofed my image at least to make sure I have pristine photobucket profile picture
I wonder if more people'll show up eventually around 10 people have been here in the past year though they didn't say anything and it was before we were around again
yeah usually whenever I play any sort of story-based game or pretty much anything with dialogue I find it difficult to really want to play more even if I have a lot of time touhou's kinda like those arcade games where it can be played in half an hour if you're good so it's one of a handful I'll play more than once a month TV I always found pretty bad because I always feel like my brain got dried out after watching anything over 90 minutes discussions as well as just like textbooks and stuff related to academics is always the good stuff because knowing it can change how I see stuff as well as just being entertaining on its own like when flat paperback books give information about some weird science stuff I never heard of with wacky examples and stuff I do not comprehend also knowing that stuff makes discussion possible so you can hear stories of the anatomy teacher who kept the flatworms in his bathtub for the experiment next week

The reason why I'm here is for a friend of mine. But I don't see him so much anymore. Whatever happened to LunyRed? I last saw him on MyAnimeList, but I miss him so much.

it's been over 5 years since LunyRed came here he might have checked it a few times without signing in but otherwise your best bet is probably myanimelist it says he was last online there two days ago and he appears to be responding to comments? though I'm not really sure how the comments work there, other people speak as if they were in the middle of a conversation

the photobucket is back for me. hope is gone anyway @ebbxxx here's his twitter, i think. found it somehow through his mal a while back. twitter.com/LunyRemi'm kinda curious as to what kind of favor would lead you to be online so much even after he's been gone for so long, but hey, your business. he's pretty active, a very prolific mario maker 2 user, so it shouldn't be hard to contact him oh yeah, and if he wants to stop by here and get rid of the photobucket that would be rad

spongelevatorThe watermark is a badge that represent a forum era haha I've been wondering that as well, either new or old. I imagine more will join eventually. Yeah most story-based games don't appeal to me much at all either. The only one I can think of that has really stuck in mind is Fallout: New Vegas. I would rather play that again than any narrative-driven game that has come out in recent memory. But I do not have the time nor means to play it haha. Yeah I fully agree, Ketsui and Hellsinker are similar, I'll load a stage or a boss fight and have a little fun for 10 minutes. I quite like the SHMUP genre for that reason. One of my favorite game series is Civilization, but never willing to turn that on because it will eat up an evening at least haha. I wouldn't mind tuning into some Japanese television to practice my Japanese on occasion, but I would have to pay the NHK if I get one, so I don't to save money. I know what you mean though, cannot watch TV too long or my mind starts to feel a little numb. I wish I had your mindset back when I was in high school haha. It's a great mindset to have and it will get you far. Always good to have that curiosity and interest in understanding the world. There are many tertiary histories I have enjoyed learning about, whether it was the referendum and uprisings in Silesia, the history and ongoing conflict over Nagorno Karabach, or the last surviving remnant of the USSR, a small unrecognized country called "Transnistria". The science stuff is interesting too, I remember reading about the RBMK graphite cooled reactor designs the USSR selected over the VVER water-cooled reactors. Or with the crisis in Fukushima, how old the reactors at the Dai-Ichi plant were. The oldest didn't even have a RICSIS but something called and "Isolation Condenser cooler" (if memory serves) which no one even knew how it worked anymore, there was a scramble trying to find anyone who knew how the thing worked so they could tell if the emergency cooling was even working (it wasn't unfortunately). I would be terrified to keep flatworm in my bathtub haha One of these days I'll create a story thread for sharing any little episode, always interested in hearing about new things. @ebbxxx You'll have to message LunyRed either on Twitter or Myanimelist and ask him to return. That's about your only bet I'm afraid. Best of luck on your endeavors though.

im back for real now @ebbxxx scroll up my guy, i just sent his twitter a bit ago. twitter.com/LunyRem lazulum spongelevatorapologies for entering convo halfway through i'm story-based and high-difficulty dude. stuff like celeste and kid icarus uprising is my favorite type. there's been a lot of cinematic stuff like last of us but i've never really gotten those much. i played life is strange a long time ago and everything felt like a cutscene, and you had such limited control of movement that each puzzle felt like it took place in the same area. touhou is a bit of an exception for me because i don't really play shmups but i like how clean and pure the bullet hell is compared to some of the shmups in my library that are all like constant high numbers, low bullet count but high hitboxes, bosses take up half the screen before even attacking, extraneous vfx, etc. touhou? you dodge and press x, and it seems like way more legitimate challenge to me i gotta appreciate hunting for info and academics, but i've never found textbooks to be much use. maybe i haven't really given any a good chance, though. the ussr had some crazy stuff going on, i've heard. it would take its own forum to deconstruct the kinds of plans they were messing around with

AeonWelcome back Enter any conversation you like, that's the fun of a forum haha The only thing I remember hearing about Kid Icarus Uprising is that it destroyed people's thumbs I think it was haha. I heard it was quite fun too. You are right about shmups, now that I think about it haha Most shumps are quite mediocre if not bad, but the gems in the genre are some of the best videogames I have ever had the pleasure of playing. Ketsui, Daioujou, Hellsinker, and Touhou are all great. That Under Defeat in the arcades is pretty good too. You're right about those filmatic games too, never too keen on them. The issue with info and academics is that you have to know how to search and what to search for, I did not know this for too long. Not knowing this results in far more effort for far less gains. Effort is not everything, how you direct that effort is equally important. The Soviet Union is certainly a massive topic haha Did you know that they wiped an entire sea off the face of the planet? One of the greatest ecological disasters in recorded history and very few know anything about it.

ok it's pretty much over so I can actually reply now yeah story based games are pretty difficult for me to play I'll usually play though like an entire story-based game in a month or less and then I don't touch anything with words for the next half year it kinda limits me to playing certain eras of games because I progress though series very slowly so I am stuck on ps2/3 for four years so far metal gear is probably the only cinematic type game I found myself enjoying because you get something that takes itself quite seriously even though you're a guy going around knocking on the wall to confuse the 20iq guards and running around in box and character names like "revolver ocelot" and "naked snake" feel like one of those over the top american movies at any random time of the year though something like tetris or picross 3d or touhou or random SNES platformers I cannot beat the first stage of are usually what I'll go to first either something where there isn't really any sort of set difficulty or something where it's too hard for me to even play half the time is the best stuff lol there is a lot of good stuff out there I just wish there was more time so I can go down those wikipedia rabbit holes like somehow arriving at critically endangered shark species page or read one of those big 30 chapters 10 pounds textbooks over a half-year journey also yeah flatworms are nasty man some of them look cool but the ones with the eyes on top and the arrow head I cannot even look at let alone touch if I had to keep those in my bathtub I'd just live in bedroom until they cease to exist also lol man they really wiped out an entire sea hearing that is absolutely surreal like one of those onion videos from 2008 except times 100 I cannot understand how such a thing could happen without anyone doing anything about it so uuh rip aral sea

Yeah I know what you mean, I've only played through a single game I can think of this entire year. If I touched an RPG I wouldn't finish it for a year with the time I have haha I've had the Nitroplus Remake of Phantom of Inferno sitting on a shelf for a long long while now. Wonder if I'll ever get around to that thing.
Metal Gear is a great series, have the HD collection on Vita but never got around to finishing them unfortunately. Some day. Revolver Ocelot is a great name haha.
Difficulty is important for me as well. The only time I ever touched Fallout 4 the first thing I did was toggle survival mode, spent half an hour just trying to get out of the opening, it was great. Only way to play that one really. The only type of difficulty I don't like is time limits (Dead Rising is an exception and a classic)
I've fallen down my own fair share of Wikipedia rabbit holes. That was how I first read about Nagorno Karrabakh a long while ago actually. Although I understand it much better now after having read some books about the Soviet Union and others on West Asia. Digging through citations on Wikipedia is quite good too, I remember digging up a primary source about the fate of Galicia after the Great War.
Sounds like you have quite an interest in biology, that's a cool interest to have I think. Definitely not a subject I can offer much information about though haha, I have no doubt you know much more than me. My knowledge mostly extends to what is delicious and what is not haha (eels are very delicious)
If you want to study animals though traveling around I think might be something you'll enjoy a lot. Even around these parts you'll find a lot of diversity in animals, you ever hear of a Muntjack? Strange looking things, howl too haha
It was the cold war, very little about what went on in the Soviet Union was known, it truly was an entirely different world that existed separately from ours. We had almost no trade with them, in fact, when Pepsi finally did trade with the USSR currencies could not be used because they were effectively worthless in each respective world. Consequently, Pepsi was traded for Vodka (truest form of international trade haha). Although there was an incident where Vodka dropped in value so in order to keep the trade going the USSR offered Pepsi Co. a small fleet of old USSR warships, to which Pepsi accepted and for one brief period had one of the world's largest war fleets hahaha
Before satellites in order to get any idea of what was going on in the USSR the West would fly high altitude air craft, first the U-2, and later the YF. The USSR would always fire SAMs and send interceptors however. The attempts to shoot down the YF make for some funny stories though, almost reminiscent of the Brits trying to intercept zeppelins over England during the Great War haha
In fact, when there was a meltdown in the Soviet's nuclear reactors in Ukraine, the West only found out something was amiss when Scandinavians were detecting a spike in local radiation and traced it eastward.
