Fonts 5 - Evanescence, it is personified! As that inferno fluxuates, so does the penultimate of the heptads, the one commanding the iconoclastic apparitions! At world end, rock and heaven, soul and sea, fade, yet it does not matter. For that melody had long since saved all. It has already reached [AMORTALITY], or simply Fonts 5, is a DDR clone. you can see the whole info at my site or on itch.iobut basically, this is a short game i made in a few months. originally i made it for a pal as a birthday present in the span of ten days because they kept saying "i don't have enough difficult songs". unfortunately while i got the engine basics finished in that time, i couldn't get all the songs ready. now? has five songs with two difficulties each, a story mode, some secrets, and probably doesn't have any desync problems it is, however, pretty difficult. aforementioned pal and i have been playing ddr as long as we've been able to hold a controller, and they're better than me. i tried to make the difficulty for them, so some of the songs are too hard for me to clear with a good score and i had to bring them in to test a bit. the easier difficulty is certainly easier, but not to the point that it could be played without some experience already. why am i making this post then? uh maybe someone else joins the forums who is a dancegame master, maybe you guys pick up dancegame one day, i dunno, i just like making posts about game i completed while i would be delighted to say it has an original ost, i did what most rhythm games do and just used whatever is cool. because of that, fonts five features a portion of touhou music; the stage 3 song being everything will freeze, undead corporation's heavy metal of flowering night (harder difficulty), and night falls ~ evening star aocf version (easier difficulty) oh yeah, i didn't just remake ddr just for fun. having it in an engine i'm used to makes it really easy to do very fun things, like turning songs into danmaku halfway through. the touhou songs feature that as a gimmick, notes turn into various bullet patterns. two nonspells and two spellcards on the harder difficulty, and two spellcards on the easier difficulty. very fun to make. the other songs have various other things as well, with the exception of the first song which is just pure notes to get a feel for the game it is very great to finally release it because it has been 95% done for like two months but i just couldn't get to the last bit because of school and jams and me having to play these very difficult songs all the way through for testing but it is finally finished and now i can work on something fully original that is hopefully more professional-looking, doesn't violate copyright laws, and can potentially make cash money that is all thank you for coming

many thanks, it i realize it didn't end up the most polished but i like the result and as always, schedules can be tough so take your time. there haven't been many posts in the past week but i suppose that's the natural culmination of all of us having a lot of things around now

Yeah it happens, our schedules are differently busy. Mine is starting to lighten up despite my own efforts to seemingly sabotage that (a little bit of a workaholic now). The bright side is that I can be a little more active now at least.
Looks like a pretty impressive project, and these sorts of projects I imagine practice your hands. It's even more impressive that you completed it in just 10 days, a glimpse into what your schedule has looked like lately haha
I definitely am terrible at rhythm games but they have been a lot of fun with friends long ago. Surprisingly I haven't been to many arcades despite their abundance in Japan. I wound up in one of the few areas where there aren't any nearby it seems. But the Touhou component gives me an incentive to try it out.

lazulumalways better to be doing things than wallowing in lethargy, godspeed in the challenge of bottoming out the always-refilling cup of work also, i *tried* to do it in ten days, but that was a long time ago. i got a lot of the gameplay mechanics done by them but after that i took my time in making it neat. i wish i could do it that fast. if i ever wanted to do something like add more songs now though, it would be really easy to work with what already exists. even if there's no way i can sell or even market a game like this, i've got the code to make something a bit more compatible with that idea spongelevatorit is alright thank you for trying gamemaker likes to put .ogg files right next to the exe so yeah all the music is around so at least you can check that out without the prerequisite of burdening 180 bpm streams
