Touhou not-so-fight club (Read 289 times)

we kinda threw this idea around in the other thread but i think it would be a good idea to have its own topic. then again it seems like we all have a lot of stuff going on but we can use this in the future

anyway,
have you or a loved one ever opened a fancy new touhou fangame just to learn that one of its main facets is multiplayer gameplay? i know i have. act now (whenever) by contacting this number (posting in this thread) and you may be entitled to compensation! (being able to play it)
so if there's something that seems like fun to play and you don't have the opportunity because nobody you know irl would be interested or nobody has played it in the past half decade post here and i will join ya after we figure out a time. maybe more people too
even if it's a local-only game there are some workarounds. i haven't used it myself yet, but a software called parsec supposedly makes online local possible. for ancient netcode the best we can do is hamachi and pray but that's worked pretty often for me before

i don't have any ideas at the moment myself, have class stuff going on as mentioned before, but i'm getting through the worst of it and i should be good for whatever in 2 weeks or so. after that i reach into my mystery box of touhou downloads and see if i can find something that fits the bill if you guys are interested

I think this sounds like a fun idea, what kind of games did you have in mind? Sky Arena? My memory is very fuzzy of the fangames that had netplay now. We could get creative with some local games too if need be yeah. Do tell what you pull out of the mystery box.

I'd be up for a not-so-fight club session in December, I think I'll have a lot more time then (I keep saying that but hopefully I'm right this time haha)

i think i mentioned this in the len'en thread, but the guy who made those also made this phantasmagoria-like in 2017. it's not a big production but it seems kinda fun as a more modern touhou 9



amapani
a platformer with Alice, MArisa, PAtchouli, and NItori playable, hence the name. i played this a tiny bit with my sister and it is just simple platforming fun with some character-specific abilities. i generally like platformers, but for touhou, you've gotta wonder why they don't just fly. the sages worked so hard to make this place where everybody can use basic magic like that freely but these ruffian youkai kids take to the streets



seihou kioh gyoku
seihou project two, what else can i say? features the funny yuuka and other not-so-canon-but-who-really-knows things. i suppose it's not technically a fangame but i think it fits around here



remifura supirittsu 2
i really have no idea how this game works besides the fact that it is a platformer and supports two-player co-op. it was in my downloads and i have confirmed it is not a fake application my computer created to trick me. flandre and remilia are playable, seems neat



cirno smash climbers
this was the first touhou fangame i downloaded because it said it was like smash bros and i only opened it once before realizing "smash bros is meant to be played with other people" and it has since been in stasis, waiting for a multiplayer game to be possible



and on steam, i found gensou skydrift
i don't have much experience with racing games so the best i can do is say "mario kart if it touhou and instead of kart it was just standing on people" but hey, the courses look rad and it seems to have netcode

if any of these strike a fancy or someone finds some other games, i'm down for whatever

i think i've heard about sky arena before, looked it up and it turns out to be one of the recent high-budget doujin games, looks neat. if you were up for it i'd totally try it out. already having netcode is a plus as well, all of the games i found in my downloads were local. works online with a bit of extra stuff, but already having netcode is a bonus
and yeah, december seems like a better time for everyone, i figure sponge has some school stuff around now too. i just got on a short break because of a holiday but finals are looming ever closer

very well that is many multiplayer fangame
there is like 1/2 chance I will have a desktop and not crusty laptop in the next few months so I will be able to run stuff like gensou skydrift after that instead of just 2d fangames from 2009+2
hopefully it controls like mario kart 7 and such that would be very nice
there is the break this week but I'm gonna have to do semester long online english in the next five days now because I did not want to touch that
so I shall probably continue to not post frequently I am sorry
I am very close to salvation however this is the final trial because I'll just get Cs on the finals of all my other classes and they let me out anyway
so maybe by then I will find some multiplayer fangames or think up a spicy thread

That is quite the impressive collection that you put together. Smash Climbers sounds fun but wouldn't mind playing the other games listed as well. I can buy Gensokyo Drift too if we decide on that one.

trying to cram the entire semester in near the end huh? wish you the best luck i possibly can because i understand your pain
only time i've failed a class was when i tried the same thing for online trig. it was optional since i already had my high school math credits but i took it and just slept on it the entire year until the last two weeks, for the entirety of which i was crunching numbers. i pray you fare better than i did
needless to say, not posting much during such a trial is quite understandable

i was pretty interested in smash climbers as well, seems like a neat minigame-like thing that can be played with little commitment
we can let this thread simmer for a bit while deciding and getting through the challenging schedules
oh and if you're terribly concerned about laptop running something before you buy it i have a couple not-so-strong computers of my own i can test on if you drop your specs

alright I think I got A on it unless I get like a D on the final though now I can return to forumm
I am very lucky it was not trig but instead just "read this book and then write about this book" three times
I also tried running doujin version of gensou skydrift and eh it worked on I think light graphics settings
though it eventually made chrome and then the rest of the computer crash so I could probably run it if I close everything
it did not control like mario kart 7 but I was able to beat the main campaign anyway so that is good
smash climbers would work fine as well

eyyyy congrats
it seems we are on the same schedule as i had just completed my finals yesterday. a very fun day of nothing for eight hours before two very intense consecutive tests after dark but now i am done as well
and yeah chrome is super unoptimized, trying to keep it open with any intense game will kill ya

now i can play game whenever is good with anyone else, skydrift or smash climbers or both or others, just tell me when is good
