I tried seeing if there was some place nearby that had taiko or beatmania and the only arcades I saw were like 15 hours away at the bottom of the california lucky for me I have ps vita so I can play taiko still but I don't know like 70% of the songs there I just hear something in japanese as the little tiger no arms thing flops around at the bottom of the screen also being able to see a replica of the statue of liberty and then go to a maid cafe after going to an arcade and playing super ultra mega big bass beat wheel level X: drum and fun sounds like one of those weird dreams where you only realize you weren't actually doing that after you wake up I hope to get to do that one day lol

lucky for me, i'm in lower cali so those places you saw were probably the ones i went to they are pretty cool, but 15 hours drive cool? probably not i've never gotten the hang of taiko. 3ds, arcade, osu version, always feels weird. might be because i've spent the past decade or so dealing with four distinct lanes, compressing them into just one makes me blind to the notes yeah japan just seems to have a wide range of things you can do in a short amount of time. it seems to take the whole day to go to one place and back where i am

lol I saw some of those oni mode taiko videos and it's definitely demon mode I don't know how anyone could actually tell the notes apart and especially how they manage to hit them all I tried the vita, DS, PSP, osu, and tjaplayer and though I can only do a handful of hard mode songs I'd say the little drum controller thing is definitely necessary the DS one with two styluses (stylii? stylopodes? I dunno plural) is definitely the best because I could actually play that one michael jackson song on oni
yeah japan's similar size to california but it seems to have stuff everywhere instead of having to go fifteen minutes to get to the ranch 99 japan sounds a lot like new york where you can walk five minutes away and be at a grocery store and a cafe where you can get a cookie the size of your face

AeonI'm happy to share info about Japan, it's a topic that genuinely brings a smile to my face talking about. Many nice memories. Yeah there's a Statue of Liberty in Odaiba haha, right next to the Aqua City. Odaiba is a very nice place, it's a small island off the coast, beautiful and scenic monorail for traveling around it. It's a very popular dating place, if you ever want to ask a Japanese girl out without being too direct and confirm she's interested, just ask her to meet you in Odaiba and if she says yes then you know. Odaiba is also where the giant 1/1 scale Gundam is (it's the RX-0 now). Also has one of the world's largest ferris wheels. spongelevatorWow, 15 hours! That's an incredible amount of time to get to another part of the state. You can take a shinkansen to any part of Japan in just a few hours. People commute to Tokyo from all around the country through those. Taiko's fun with friends, definitely more accessible than some of the other rhythm games. I would do dismally poor at those haha You can cross all of those off in one well-planned days haha I wish you the best of luck on that, I'm sure you'll have an opportunity someday. Different parts of Japan all have something else to offer. Many parts you'll definitely need a car, if you're going to someplace such as Aizuwakamatsu, or some of the more rural parts of Chiba. But in Tokyo yeah everything is a stone's toss away really. What's really quite distinct are the shoutengais, these shopping streets, always nice to find a new one and see what's there.

yeah california's a long long maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan I think they expect people to take flights from the top to the bottom lol
public transportation is a real good one and I would definitely prefer it to car my only experience with driving is mario kart 7 but subway ticket is probably cheaper than car payments if there was bullet trains here then I could probably go more than like 30 miles away
now that there's gundam I'll need to see that as well there are many things to do over there lol also I googled aizuwakamatsu and I remember seeing many websites using pictures of there as a background or banner it looks good in all four seasons lol
also it might be a strange question to ask but is there any movies where the gundam fights the statue of liberty replica

I can't imagine the flights being inexpensive.
Yeah public transportation here is very convenient. Been meaning to get a bicycle for some time though. Unless I decide to move out to the countryside, which maybe someday I may, no reason to drive reason.
I have a partiality to Aizu, been a long time since I was last there but it always has a special place in my heart. I definitely recommend that place as well. Been all around Fukushima, even been to the downed nuclear reactors, harrowing place to be.
Don't know any films quite like that haha You'll find my film tastes to generally be much more boring, quite like 生きる and 半世界 That would make for a fun film though.

i'm snoozer and haven't gotten my driver's license, so yeah it is a bit of a pain to get around. i've heard before that cars aren't nearly as useful in japan because of how good public transit is there, though. if i didn't have my pals to drive me around, i have no idea how i would get anywhere
i would watch gundam vs. statue of liberty, even knowing nothing about gundam (or the history behind the statue of liberty)

Yeah the public transit is very convenient unless you're out in the countryside (which has its perks), or a place such as Aizu. I'm not originally from Japan, but I don't know how I lived without the public transportation now.
It is cool how Americans can drive to a different state though, each one of those things tends to be roughly the size of a country haha

yeah I'd like to live somewhere with super ultra public transportation like new york or a city in japan cars would be nice if I planned on actually doing anything but I would like to be able to just get some job and then go on a train and go there and then get groceries for the week and go home in new york I could just go into the subway and sit for half an hour and then I'm at the big book off where there is not any hifuu club CDs but eh at least I didn't have to pilot a giant metal beetle on wheels which also absorbs the monthly paycheck
on long interstate car trips I basically only remember that some roads smell very bad lol also after about six hours everything becomes regrettable and I want to go back home

its the hifuu cds that make me want good public transportation. maribel and renko can clear a third of japan in 53 minutes? it takes me 30 just to get to classes. i think cars are pretty great, but i really wish we could get both the metal beetle transportation and the speedy metal snake transportation

japan has metal snakes that are just solid they got nanomachines in the wheels to get you from okinawa to chiba in five minutes so you can get your max coffee during your lunch break
bus is worse than subway but subway is also very slow unless on express mode eventually in 2050 there will probably be the amazon teleportation devices which have a 50% success rate so we must wait for that for now though sadly public transportation exists not in very many places and man I want to be able to go on subway again so I have access to exquisite curry bread without car

A recommendation: if you ever board one of those very fast metal snakes, buy a bentou box with the string sticking out of it. You will very much enjoy pulling that string.

Not quite confetti haha I won't spoil it, but I can assure you that you will be pleasantly surprised
Food is good, most stuff is grown in Japan, easy to find fresh produce being sold in the city. Some downsides, can't find apples easily at the moment. There are regional foods too, go to Kawagoe and everything is sweet potato, for example. Portions are smaller than in the States, a lot of massive food servings/quantities in the States. Ramen is good fast food. KFC is a couples thing for Christmas believe it or not, funny story how that became the case.

I was searching for a video for Sponge's Touhou Stoopid thread, came across something I completely forgot about but is very relevant for this thread.
You guys may be interested in this, I'm pretty sure I have an English translation PDF lying around somewhere (from long long ago)
