Hey, it's been how long? I know it's been at least since last year... and only like what, three or so new posts? Well anyways, I'm back here now after a long journey in different places and recovering from things like computer problems and whatnot. Also, since it's not like anyone ever really does anything in that whole Touhou circle thing I put together, it's pretty low priority and my current main priorities are making my game and Vocaloid music now.
For a while I was working on someone else's indie game; MajiKana, but that didn't really get anywhere for me and it ended up wasting about a month and putting me in a hiatus, but I'm alright with the creator and it seems like it's going to be a pretty good game and all, but the music in mind just doesn't naturally work with me and my own music was too complex for it. That's about all there is to so say for what I've done in the past while I've been gone... hopefully more new people can join... I'll see what topics I can come up with this time later.

Hi. :3 Anyways, welcome back. Not much happened here... A few new people came along, but other than that, not much.

Meh, I've just been doing Touhou Doom stuff for the past 820452498572 days while also looking at TF2 items that I would never afford in my life.

I'm honestly not sure what else I can contribute to here... I'm just blank on anything further to say, that's the honest truth.
It's weird to think back to when this site had so much more activity, there was even the hisoutensoku sub-community thing on hamachi that always seemed active. There were things going on left and right, and now it's just this single post at a blank state...
It's actually harder nowdays to get something like this noticed too, or a lot of things really. Culture in general has slowed down a lot, and it doesn't help that even places like youtube now have changed systems to work with the system of things on the outside world, for example, subscribers you haven't looked at enough will stop giving notifications of new uploads, making it almost pointless for most people, even if you have subscribers in the thousands... you just aren't likely to be noticed through that way anymore unless you're just popular through indirect following and you're in the more generally talked about fame, and similar can be said of other sites.
I mean, you can't just easily advertise this place or tell people about it like you could some years ago unless you go to another forum, but then the people there would already have that... this also applies to other "communities" which are also struggling to even be considered "communities" it seems.
... oh well...
I guess this is possibly good-bye
I'll check in once in a while to see if there's anything new or anything that can be done, but I don't see this getting better with any ease...

Hm.. I've just remembered who you are from your old handle. Wow, it's been a while since then.
Your post is essentially how I feel about this place. That said, I never really contributed much with my "let's just post where ever I can possibly and then leave" strategy. All that did was leave green (or yellow) usernames everywhere. I haven't really bothered to keep up with Touhou since I've became a lurker here.
In fact, it wasn't until yesterday that I realized Touhou Genmuyoutan (Sequel to Devil of Decline and Genius of Sappheiros) was a thing. I would love to make a thread and talk about it, but that will probably go as well as my previous attempt at the threads. Wait worse, that shadow isn't here anymore.
The best way I can say to get "discovered" on youtube would be to either do something that is interesting and obscure or jump on the new thing, but do it better than anyone else. That would at least put your foot in the door and then you would just need to keep a consistent schedule of uploads so that you can build a fanbase no matter how small. This is mostly advice on LPs though, but weekly/monthly uploads is big thing.
Also, D3 should be doing something about the copyright now.

Oh wow, I've been sleeping in too much lately. Haven't had time to visit the forum. X3 Welcome back. Yeah, this place has seen better days, but it's not over until I hear the fat woman sings. And there are no fat people in Gensokyo. :3

That would at least put your foot in the door and then you would just need to keep a consistent schedule of uploads so that you can build a fanbase no matter how small. I'm not stating that for my own case, I personally don't worry much about it since I'm pretty sure I could get known on my own much more easily through other sites, but generally, youtube just isn't worth it. Uploading something obscure will get you very few followers. I've seen some really great videos uploaded with only even 10 views. Take this for example; www.youtube.com/watch?v=il_r5diaNa0Jumping onto a new thing is pretty much what _almost everyone_ does these days. I look down on it a lot, and have you even seen all the countless Flappy Bird clones there have been?? I mean, that's not a youtube example I guess, but just generally speaking, and it gets very few people known as well, and only to a small or very temporary extent. This all goes double for youtube when it comes to... keeping a consistent schedule of uploads. Even that doesn't keep your fans updated most of the time unless they're really dedicated which is unlikely to apply to the majority of most fans of anything to the highest extent and have no lives. There are youtube channels I'm subscribed to and like, but sometimes I don't have time to watch their new uploads so I decide I'll watch it later... only to end up losing updates to their uploads. I then either end up forgetting they even exist or going "hmm, whatever happened to that one youtube channel I liked...?" Having to constantly put up well done click-bait videos is not for me and I don't even have the time to always be rendering a new video, I have a bunch of other things to work on and I'm sure other people deal with this as well for their own situations. Youtube is really just not worth the render time or effort. Unless you already got somewhere before the changes to youtube or are using a different site alongside youtube, unless you went viral with something stupid, you could get fame more easily by posting gifs to 4chan logically. also nice seeing you

I know. It was mostly just idle thoughts from all those years I spent on Youtube. From when the comments boxes allowed some form of chatting with other people (how I even learned about this place way back when) to all the layout changes... to well now.
Most of my advice is primarily for game related things and things that rely on their personality. I don't watch much else there these days. Music on the hand, I have no clue how you'll get that known. Funny you mentioned posting gifs there, I remember a certain piano player getting his popularity mostly from posting his videos on /a/. There's nico douga too, I suppose.
When I said the new thing. You'll need to realize what that "new" thing is before it gets too big. Hearthstone got a lot of gamers popular, but that was mostly from the twitch side of things. Twitter can be used in tandem with youtube to keep people updated and let them know that "yes I'm alive and no I haven't finished [insert video]"
Didn't clickbaits die a long time ago? Anyways, gaming really has taken over youtube. I remember back when those vlog guys were popular..
Eh, I'm rambling. Better get some food..
if D3 can't fix the copyright, afro bunny man might come back to fix that problem.

I should really look into other sub-forums rather the fandom utopia. Either way, welcome back!
