This topic is created for the purpose of answering all of the most frequently asked questions in the support board. In any case a new member asks about something that has already been answered in the past, anyone is free to redirect their inquiries to this thread. ^^ All answers shall be displayed in boldface.

All the questions within this thread are subject to change. Furthermore, anyone from the staff team can add additional questions with answers into this thread.

• How do I switch forum skins?
  
  Here's a step-by-step instruction:
  • Go to "Profile" in the menu bar or simply click on your own display name.
    
  • Click "Modify Profile".
    
  • Scroll down to "Account Preferences" until you see the option "Select Skin" that has a drop-down menu right beside it.
    
  • Choose one among the choices from the "Select Skin" drop-down menu.
    
  • Apply the changes by clicking on the "Modify Profile" button at the bottom of the page.
  
  
  
  
• Why is there no chatbox in this forum? It would be cool to have one! Come on!! Who's with me?!
  
  Lunatic Red was originally created to contain NO chatbox within the site. The whole purpose of the forum would be pointless if all forms of discussion would happen only inside the chatbox, leaving the boards untouched. Although the worst case scenario could have slim chances of happening, I'm still remaining firm about my decision of not adding a chatbox in here. Even if access to the chatbox was members-only, a chatbox is STILL a chatbox.
  
  
• What about the LR Hamachi Room? Is it an extension of this forum?
  
  Yes it is, hence the name. It was created for the purpose of playing Touhou-related games against other members over a virtual private network. The LR Hamachi Room is also used for any official forum-related events.
  
  
• Can anyone from the LR staff team also moderate any contact or communications outside the forum between/among LR members?
  
  Definitely not, I'm afraid. That would be a bit over the top. We can't keep an eye on you in other websites or in instant messaging of any form because those places are already beyond our administration.
  
  
• Why isn't there a roleplay (sub-)forum in here? It would be so much fun, you know?!
  
  A similar issue with the chatbox. Lunatic Red was originally created to NOT have an RP forum. It would be virtually impossible to accurately represent a Touhou character. Furthermore, some of the members who know their favorite character more than the roleplayer does might feel uncomfortable or even irritated if the roleplayer ruins the character personality-wise. Roleplaying is good in theory, but it doesn't turn out well in practice.
  
  
• Why can't I access the forum sometimes? Also, why is the forum loading very slow, or why doesn't it load at all?
  
  There are a handful of reasons from specific situations. There are instances where the ProBoards servers are having the hiccups. If that is the case, then there's nothing we can do about it but wait because ProBoards sorts out the loading issues as quickly as they could. Sometimes, they do backups of the ProBoards forums' data.
  
  A few months ago, LR's pages load very slowly and sometimes would just be stuck with the banner but without the forum below it. It was because of the global presence of the MixPod in all pages of the forum. The MixPod fetches data from a couple (or more) websites before it loads itself and they affect the forum loading time. We took care of that problem by embedding the MixPod inside a popup so it won't cause any more loading issues when browsing the forum. We also removed another app that fetches data from another website - it was the Moon Phase app.
  
  There are threads that are full of large images (sometimes not inserted inside spoiler tags) so it's reasonable why that page would load very slow. I hope nobody complains about that one.
  
  
• Why don't you wanna go ad-free? These ads are a pain in the arse!!
  
  Almost everyone from the forum don't mind the ads. LR is really fine using only the free service ProBoards provides us. If you wish to help the forum by making it ad-free per month, then you can do so by clicking the "Click Here To Make This Board Ad-Free" link at the bottom of the page (before the ad loads). I won't stop you. But if you insisted and actually did, please inform me at least so we can apply the credits for ProBoards' paid services. Thank you.
  
  Take note: Ad-free isn't a permanent thing. This is how ads & money make ProBoards forums go around and around.
  
  
• Can't we use bigger avatars? 100x100 is a bit too small, don't you think? I hear there was a script that can enable us to use avatars that exceed 100x100 px in dimensions. You should try it!!!
  
  Yes, I'm aware of it. I'm aware of the code that works 100%, no conflict with the resizing and stuff. The maximum size that I think we could use for now should be 100x150. However, there are a few members who used avatars that were originally...*ahem*...as big as wallpapers in terms of dimensions. Applying that code would probably....distort or ruin their "resized" avatars and they might take it out on me.
  
  However, we'll see. I really might apply it sometime in the future, especially after the new forum skin(s) have been added.
  
  
• I wrote text in the "Personal Text" field in my profile and I've also chosen a mood, but when I clicked "Modify Profile", my mood doesn't show up and instead, had a random string of characters at the end of my personal text! How did that happen?! HELP!!
  
  The maximum amount of characters allowed in the Personal Text area is 100 characters. The "Profile Moods" code needs to use at least 10 (not really sure of exact number, but 10 to be safe) spaces from the Personal Text field for the code to work. So it is recommended that your personal text consists of less than 90 characters if you want to see the moods functioning in your profile.
  
  
• I've read somewhere that LR has their own Touhou-themed emotes. How do I use them?
  
  You'll have to use the keyword provided then add two colons ":" at the beginning and end of the word, like so ::keyword::
  
  To ensure the keywords work, don't forget to add spaces before and after the double colons. All of the LR emotes are inside the spoiler at the bottom of this post, with the corresponding keyword on how to use them.
