of course without using continues. clears that were done with 3 conitnues mean shit.

and ohohoh, trust me, it is hard. 3-4 years ago, people were called liars when they said they cleared the game on that difficulty because it seemed impossible. and considering there's a rank system in the game, you can assume that it gets ^%*(ing difficult if you don't die to all the stuff in the game.

remember, dying lowers rank and makes the game easier. if you die ten times and use 2 continues, of course it won't seem as difficult. but if you reach, let's say, marisa with 1 death, you can safely say that she's going to go apeshit on you.

saying SoEW lunatic isn't hard shows you don't know much about the game.

Not to mention the fun of the fact that that hitbox isn't consistent with it's location on the player sprite, which make it even more difficult when you think you're just going to make it through, only to find you've lost a life. It was fun enough trying to get a 1cc on normal, and the farthest I've gotten on extra is to Rika's first pattern.

I didn't realize a game that old would increase the difficulty based on my performance. I thought the game had a consistent difficulty. So I'm not a mega expert on the old games.

but EoSD and PCB have a rank system, too

the only things unaffected it (in EoSD and PCB, anyway) are extra stages and the last 2 spells of the final boss (I.e scarlet meister and scarlet gensokyo as well as reflowering and whatever the actual last spell is yuyuko has). though, admittedly, the only place where you really feel the rank system in PCB is stage 4 boss opener if you play Marisa.

in the pc-98 shooters, rank affect extra stages, too. with a few exceptions, to my knowledge (I.e Alice's second green phase that is completely static and doesn't seem to change ever.)

I faintly knew of EoSD and PCB having those (well, not so much EoSD. I've never noticed on that one tbh). I'm just surprised by the older games having a system like that. Guess I shouldn't underestimate ZUNsama.

I don't really know yet! I haven't seen a whole lot of the characters to know who I like lol. If I did pick one, my opinion would probably be mostly based off of the Touhou Anime Project, and it'd be umm... either Marisa or uhh... suika? The drunk Oni. I may have to get back to you on that once I've actually played through a game or two

Stay away from Fairy Wars until you've had a go at EoSD, PCB, and PoFV (especially PoFV as Cirno)... but otherwise, there's little character development to speak of in the games themselves.

MoF through TD (including Hisoutensoku) has been one incident inducing the next, pretty much... so if you want plot, that will probably account for it. Otherwise, it's to the prints with you!

Doujin I could recommend (all to be found in the pools of danbooru): "Tag Dream", "200 Yojana in a Flash", "Cirno and Reimu's 1-2-3", "Shitenno", and "Nitori Gets Caught in the Flow". Also, anything from "imizu (nitro unknown)" the artist... they are violent and/but hilarious.

Yea it is. People are stealing my name left right and center! D: I'm glad to hear that the order I play em in doesn't really matter, and I've managed to get my hands on quite a few doujin's... I just gotta find out what exactly I downloaded now. I'll be sure to check out the ones you mentioned there! ^_^

Ahh sorry XD I've been busy with Christmas just around the corner. I still haven't even bought anything yet! lol


In the last week all I've had time to do is watch the Touhou Anime Project and download/install the games. The TH anime project is looking pretty nice though.


On a completely non-touhou related note, what other kinds of games do you all play (if any)?

no, every game after PCB has a set difficulty for each...well...difficulty. even if you never bomb or die in Mountain of Faith, the patterns are always just as difficult if we disregard RNG differences. No additional bullets, no extra speed.

I play Team Fortress 2 sometimes, though, I've picked up more interest in IaMP, since I never cleared through it, and I want to sharpen my fighting game skills for Hopeless Masquerade comes out.

Ohh cool. I've been playing a lot of Dota 2 and HoN recently. I've found a couple of really nice games though (well, if you're into RPG's they're nice). Like Cthulhu Saves the World was really funny. I loved it XD

nobody plays IaMP nowadays. the controls are really difficult to get used to and that's personal, but i find it to be inferior to UNL anyway. might as well try that one instead.

A game about Cthulu saving the world sounds like it has comedy all over it. Maybe if I have some time, I'll look that one up. :3 And don't worry, I'm not all that good at the fighting games, either. XD

It did take me a bit of time to get used to IaMP's controls. I'm only playing it, because I want to clear it. It's like I'm missing a chapter of the story of Touhou, and I want to make sure I don't skip over it. Once you get going, it's not so bad, though. The declaring system really doesn't work so well for multiplayer matches, since you're telling your opponent what you're trying to do to them rather loudly, whereas in the later fighting games it's visible, but not as much, since the cards are a bit smaller.

I thought it was well worth what I paid (it was a bundle of Breath of Death VII and CStW for like 2.49 or some crazy deal?). Steam sales can really become quite a bargain sometimes.

That's pretty much what I was thinking lmao. I wanted to know what happened. If I had to pick what I'm interested in most, it'd be the story and the characters stories.

I haven't played League of Legends. Well, I've played one game of it. But I haven't really had a need to get into another MOBA game (since I play HoN and Dota 2 already). I can go ahead and install it though
