Actually I learned most of my english through video games, I started playing video games since I was 4. Some people claim that I know English better then my first language. Being on the internet a lot also helped me with improving my English. Learning Japanese is a lot harder though.

To be honest, I didn't talk much when I was a kid, and I was much like you in the respect that video games taught me English. Although English is my first language, I have never studied it and yet I have pretty neat grammar. Japanese is pretty tough, but once you get pretty familiar it becomes much easier. I also have a whole bunch of Super Famicom games that I plan to play pretty soon. I have only been studying Japanese for about 7 months, so I know I won't understand alot, but it might help me just a bit.

I was actually on the process of learning Japanese but I happen to have been on a halt because of my tight schedule at work. :/ But it's good for you that you're learning Japanese.
