Hello, nice to meet whoever reads this thread and posts. I am fresh meat in this whole Touhou phenomenon, I've only been into it for a few weeks, someone showed me a bunch of pictures of Ran Yakumo, and being the little bugger I am, I got curious and decided to check it out, and I got hooked enough to register on this website I guess(I swear, Touhou is like a virus you cannot get rid of!).

I tried out Perfect Cherry Blossom. I got to Stage 5 on lunatic in 1CC only to have

kick me back to stage 1(oww). I also tried IaMP but I have yet to get used to the gameplay to even play Story Mode.

I was wondering if anyone could give me a quick run-through on how to get around without looking like an idiot.

Speaking of idiots, my birthday happens to be the day before Cirno day. I'm almost a ⑨ but not exactly a ⑨.

I've tried many times to get back to Stage 5, but often, when I die once, I get frustrated and start over, I'm also not very keen of bombs, I usually die with 3-5 bombs in stock(I tried with ReimuA and ReimuB). I often die to things I consider really stupid, like Letty's ondulation rays(I swear, you can't see them because they blend with the background), or all those yellow projectiles in Stage 2. Also that sadistic pre-Stage 4.

And yes, 1CC means regular 3 lives no slowdowns.

Haha, I know how you feel. Using bombs isn't my thing either. Pretty impressive that you made it up to Youmu, she's awesome =D

Midboss battlez
Youmu's first attack, try to start in front of her until you see about 1/2~3/4 of the trail complete. Then dash out through the opening and repeat. Her second attack is self-explanatory (which i think you'd easily be able to dodge if ur playing lunatic levels). Now the part where she mixes those two up is where it gets complicated. The problem i tend to find is that i instinctively follow one of those colors instead of focusing on both. I found it easier to stay in the crowded-by-danmaku spots because despite the short movements and fast reflexes, you have a clear escape route on the side.

Now for her first spellcard, i don't really have anything else to say but loldodge. For me, its an easy process cuz getting pwned by 2nd midboss in SA (forgotname) made me fully aware of those arrow-shaped hitboxes. What i see it looks a lot bigger than it hits. The fact that they look so big is what gives you the doubt of whether to deathbomb or not. This part is all practice.

Boss Fight
For the first attack, again start at the top and keep looking for the most open area. Although it looks deadly, towards the end there will be an arc with a HUGE space to dodge everything. Take advantage of that and repeat. Quick note though, NEVER stay in the corners OR the bottom during this attack. It looks safe, but at the last half of this attack hell there comes a point where ur confronted with a line that has no openings towards the bottom. Her second part of this, if you dodged the first attack from midboss, you can dodge this too lol.

Now, her first spellcard is a TRIPPY bastard. First things first, do not look at youmu. Seriously haha. Just look at your area as if wriggle had blacked out the rest of your screen. It will be easier to dodge it if then. Take note that the huge danmaku's have quite a bit of opening if you dodge them right.

Second attack.. just do little movements when the sword-danmaku come at u.

Her second spellcard.. idk if its just me but i found it easier if i tilted my head vertically and my keyboard vertically as well. Then you're looking at a bullet hell going up and down rather than left to right and it's easier to eyeball.

Her 3rd spellcard should be extremely easy. Just dodge the focus of her danmaku while eyeballing the ones that come up. This is like basic training for lunatic players xDD

Her last spell card.. hallucination. Literally haha. What i tend to do is wait for the danmaku's to slow down. Then go into the bullet hell and take note of any danmaku thats aimed at you. If you can manage to slip in the middle of hell with less than 2 facing you, the rest will pass by and you'll be left with a very simple move-little dodge.

I've never gotten to her last word, so shoot me for that haha.
With that i managed to beat Youmu by using about 1 or 2 deathbombs iirc. Buut yeah, its practice xDD

Rofl that was long. I also had the same problem as you xDD Youmu -> Freakn ridiculous until i found every opening haha

I tried playing on Lunatic again today but someone distracted me and I got killed once by Cirno, this didn't even happen the first time I played, and I played on Lunatic that time too ._.

Cirno has gotten lunatic, that's why you got hit. Her randomness is too much to handle. Combine her skillz with the person who distracted you.
